
Dr. Erika and Mr. Andrew HuntDr. Erika and Andrew Hunt are the owners of Scribbles Center for Learning, Inc. and designed Scribbles based on the loving, educational and flexible care environment that they sought for their children who attend Scribbles in the Pre-K and Infant classrooms. Before starting Scribbles, Andy worked at State Farm Insurance and Erika continues to work in the College of Education at Illinois State University. Erika, who has a Ph.D. in education administration and policy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has a passion for children and her work entails research and advocacy for strengthening education. Prior to working at Illinois State University, Erika worked for Governor Jim Edgar and for two state agencies.
Andy, who originates from Littleton, Colorado, has a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University, where he coached youth soccer and d.j.ed a country music show. Andy has a natural ability with kids and as a teenager was selected as camp counselor of the year at the summer camp he worked at in Colorado. Aside from his work at Scribbles, Andy hopes to begin working on a children’s reading series. Andy’s original teaching emphasis was in high school, and he has recently completed classes in early childcare at Heartland Community College.
Andy and Erika have two children and have enjoyed getting to know all of the parents and children who have become the Scribbles Family!
Mrs. Jennifer Hickman – DirectorJennifer holds a Level II Illinois Director Credential and has over fourteen years of experience in early childhood education as both a teacher and administrator. Her experience includes over seven years as a site manager of Lutheran General Children’s Daycare. During her tenure at Lutheran General, her program achieved NAEYC accreditation twice, including a one-year merit extension. Under her supervision at Lutheran General, three teachers achieved finalist status in one of the most prestigious early childhood awards, the Kohl-McCormick Early Childhood award. One of Jennifer’s teachers was a national winner of the Tylenol and Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation award, as well.
Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University. She was a NAEYC validator for seven years and worked with NAEYC and UCLA in piloting many of the reinvented accreditation processes and procedures. She has presented at conferences and trainings on primary caregiving, toddler behaviors, staff development, and parent relationships and is trained in administering the Denver II Developmental Screening, the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, and Healthy Steps. Jennifer is married and has 3 children.
Mrs. Leanne Macrowski – Asst. Director and School-Age Program DirectorMrs. Leanne Macrowski has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from St. Xavier University in Chicago, IL. She has worked at the Early Childhood Development Center at the University of Notre Dame as a lead preschool teacher and has taught first grade at Lake Bluff Elementary School in Lake Bluff, IL. Prior to joining the Scribbles team, she was an in-home childcare provider. Leanne and her husband have two children.
